ARLINGTON- Larry Al Clayton, 72, a resident of Arlington, VT passed away peacefully at home on Friday January 5th, 2024. He was born on December 27th, 1951 in Bennington, VT to the late Alford E. Clayton and Betty Jean Streeter. Larry grew up in Arlington, and spent the majority of his life there. He graduated from Arlington Memorial High School in the class of 1969. Larry had a lot of good memories with his wife Joanne. He could always make her laugh. Larry was employed as an automobile mechanic and specialized in body work. He was also a musician. Everyone that heard his music loved it. He was a member of the Mt. Clay Band for many years. Larry was a member of the sons of the American Legion Post #69 in Arlington. Survivors include his wife of 31 years; Joanne. His loyal companion, Skeeter. His children, Paul Clayton, Amy Clayton, Sara Clayton, Rickey (Becca) Clayton. His step-children; Kimberly McCloud (Jason), Kyleen York (Adam), and Brian Wade (Niti). His 16 grandchildren. A sister, Donna (Dick) Shuttlesworth and his brothers, Randy (Claire) Clayton and Alford E. (Lisa) Clayton Jr. Larry was also survived by many friends and extended family. Everyone loved him deeply. There will be a graveside service for Larry that the family will announce at a later date. Also, there will be a celebration of Larry’s life held this spring.
