NORTH POWNAL, VERMONT
Larriann Marie Gates, 41, of North Pownal, VT died on Monday, December 24, 2018 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington following a brief illness.
Larriann was born in Bennington and was the daughter of Lawrence Joseph Gates and Charlotte Marie Crandall. She was educated in local schools and is a graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School. She has been employed at various jobs around the area, and her last and favorite job was at Dunkin Donuts, where she enjoyed the customer interaction. According to family, she talked about her favorite customers all the time.
Larriann enjoyed family, friends, camping, crocheting, playing cards, and she was a genius with electronics. Everyone she knew who needed something fixed would come to her.
Anyone who knew her, knew that her children were her world. She was the woman who would give the shirt off her back and her last dollar. Despite when she was struggling, she was there for anyone she had to be there for. Even towards the end of her life, when she was in pain more often than not, she babysat her only grand-baby. She was that house or meal down the street when you had no where else to go, and family meant more to her than anything.
She is survived by her children: Robert Caron, III of Pownal, Amber Gates of Bennington, William Merrow, II of Pownal, and Zachary Harrington of Pownal. She leaves her first and only grandchild, Ella Grace Peterson of Bennington by her daughter Amber and Garrett Peterson. She is survived by her fiance Edward (Teddy), her father Lawrence and his wife Catherine, and her mother Charlotte and her partner of several years Charles. Larriann has three brothers; Lawrence Joseph Gates, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Pownal. Lawrence Joseph Thompson of Pownal, and Leon Hall, Jr. of Florida and his wife Doborah. She also leaves many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is predeceased by her grandparents.
