Kenneth Edward Sawyer, age 83, a resident of Crescent Manor, died on Thursday morning, June 17, following a long illness with Alzheimers.
Ken was born in Bennington, Vermont on December 25, 1937, and was the son of the late Albert and Eunice Sawyer. He received his education in Bennington and is a graduate of Bennington High School. He married the former Judith Colo on June 23, 1979. Mrs. Sawyer predeceased him in 2019. Ken served with the Vermont National Guard from 1960 until 1963. He was employed at the Bijur Company in Bennington for fifty years. He was an oil pump specialist, at the time of his retirement.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hiking., and spending time with his family.
He is survived by two children: Richard (Sandy) Sawyer and Cheryl Sawyer, as well as grandchildren: Robert Sawyer, Corey Sawyer, Amanda Sawyer and Bradley Sawyer, and great grandchildren: Torah Millington, Steven Collette, and Elliot Sawyer. He leaves his sisters: Dorothy Foster and Sandra Harrington, and many nieces and nephews, that he was very fond of.
Besides his wife, Ken is predeceased by his parents, and one sister, Nancy Farnum.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021, for family members only at 11:00 am at White Chapel Cemetery, on Chapel Road in Bennington. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Unit at Crescent Manor Care Centers in Bennington through the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington, Vermont
