Kathleen Marie Peterson (Hamilton)

September 25, 1957 — April 30, 2021

Kathleen Marie Hamilton Peterson, 63, a resident of North Branch St. in Bennington died unexpectedly on Friday April 30, 2021 at her residence following a brief illness.

She was born in Bennington, VT on September 25, 1957. She was the daughter of the late James F. Hamilton and Sheila Ann (Statia) Hamilton who survives. Kathleen received her education in Bennington and was a graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School.

In earlier years Kathleen owned a clothing store in North Bennington called Kathleen's Closet as well as working as a property manager. Kathy also ran a daycare and grew very attached to the families that she cared for.

She enjoyed reading, gardening and kayaking. She was also very giving and would try to help those in need, especially the homeless. Kathy enjoyed spending summers at the family camp on Lake St. Catherine.

Survivors include a son, Ryan Peterson and his wife Jacqueline of Epping, New Hampshire. Two grandsons, Finnley and Otis Peterson of Epping. Her mother Sheila A. Hamilton of North Bennington. A sister Kimberly Becker of North Bennington and two brothers, Mark Hamilton of Pownal, VT and Steve Hamilton of Shaftsbury along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son Christopher Gagne.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 7, 2021. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM.

The burial will take place in the family lot at Grandview Cemetery in North Bennington.
