Kathleen Mary Dow, 80, a resident of Bennington, Vermont passed away peacefully at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington on Saturday April 27th, 2024 following a long illness. Born on April 9th, 1944 in Bennington, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Paul and Hazel (Percey) Kelley. She was raised in and received her early education in Bennington, and later graduated from Bennington High School. In the early 70s, Kathleen married the late Robert Dow. They shared nearly 50 years married and nearly 55 years as a couple. Robert passed away on August 25, 2023. In later years, Kathleen was a school bus driver. She also was a Home Health Aide for Bennington Home Health. Kathleen enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and camping with friends. She was also a member of the American Kennel Club. Survivors include her daughter; Joanne Sharby (Bruce). Her grandchildren; Theodore Garrison Courtney Garrison, Nick Karsten, Shane Sharby, and Brandon Sharby. Her great grandchildren; Kaylee Karsten, Grayson Garrison, Lailia Garrison, and Connor Karsten. Her siblings; Timothy J. Kelley (Gloria) and Patricia K. Betit. Her nieces and nephews; Kathy Gallagher (William), Kelly Brown (Shawn), Donald Betit (Ann), Melissa Koronas (Bob), Kevin Betit (Mary). Her great nieces and nephews; Casey Betit (Joe Marcoux), Elisha Marshall (Kyle), Renee Parker (Harold), Craig Betit, and Bradley Betit Her great-great nieces and nephews; Ryan, Meagan, Taylor, and Wyatt Marcoux, Adisyn, Tucker, and Madisyn Marshall, Sophia, Emmalyn, and Bryson Parker. Her two best friends; Mary Ann Harrington Lauzon and Peggy Gulley. A graveside committal service will be offered for Kathleen on Friday May 3rd, 2024 at 11:00am at Grandview Cemetery in North Bennington. The family would like to express a special thank you to; Bayada Hospice and Tiffany Thurston, Hoosick Falls Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Southwestern Vermont Medical Center ICU and Nurse Lauren, as well as the Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging and Gail Whitman Buell.
