Katherine Mary Brooks

Katherine Alexander Brooks, age 99, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024. Born in Bennington, VT, November 25, 1924, daughter of the late James and Mary Alexander, Katherine graduated from Bennington High School (Benn High) and was a lifelong resident of Bennington. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, William Patrick Brooks. Katherine had a deep passion for gardening, often spending hours in her yard tending to her flower garden. She took great pride in her work and found joy in seeing her garden thrive. Her careful attention to detail and love for her plants made her garden a beautiful and cherished part of her home. She often credited her long life to her passion for gardening, frequently mentioning the simple act of digging in the dirt gave her a sense of peace and well-being. She is survived by her seven children, Sharon Savidge of Newton, MA, William Brooks and his wife Nancy of Bennington, VT, Dennis Brooks and his wife Sharon of Bennington, VT, Mary Hunziker and her husband Craig of Portland, ME, Sarah Laderoute and her husband Paul of Rutland, VT, Carson Craig and her husband Chris of Durham, ME and Alex Brooks and his wife Kate of Marblehead, MA; and her grandchildren, Kelly, Kaitlin, Lindsay, Whitney, Dennis Jr., Bennett, Carson, Andrew, Katherine, William, Jack, Cole and Carson. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Alexander, and her beloved sister, Jane Alexander. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank Dr. Greenleaf, and the staff at CLR for taking such good care of their mother. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Special Olympics in Katherine's memory.
