Karl C. Soderberg, 82, a seasonal resident of Manchester, VT and Fort Myers, Florida and more recently of East Dorset, VT died Friday October 1, 2021 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, VT following a long illness.
He was born in Flushing, New York on January 14, 1939. He was the son of the late Louis and Evelyn (Carter) Soderberg. Karl grew up in Shaftsbury, VT where he received his early education in a one room school house. He was a graduate of Kimball Union Academy and received a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
As a veteran of the United States Army, Karl was involved in the "Guided-Missle Program" and served during the Cuban Crisis.
In 1965 Karl married Charlotte J. Schoenheit at the Congregational Church in Manchester, Vermont.
For over 25 years, Karl had a successful career with Siemens Medical Systems in the state of Connecticut. As a traveling salesman for Siemens, he sold medical imaging equipment across the state and retired in 2001. Karl was a resident of Southington, Connecticut for over 30 years.
Karl was very passionate about boating and his happiest days were spent enjoying time with his friends and family on his boat on the coast of Connecticut. He would frequently visit many places on his boat around New England and New York including Block Island, Cuttyhunk Island, Watch Hill, Newport, Martha's Vineyard and Montauk. His passion for boating even led way to a collection of lobster traps. In retirement, Karl enjoyed traveling and split his time between Manchester Village, VT and Fort Myers Beach, FL.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte J. Soderberg of East Dorset, VT. A daughter, Jennifer Straub (Charles) of East Dorset, VT; two grandchildren, Lily and Charlie Straub of East Dorset and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Roepe of Gainesville, FL.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday October 21, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Dellwood Cemetery in Manchester, VT.
