Karen L. Tatro

September 26, 1954 — January 2, 2019

Karen L. Tatro, 64, a resident of Coulter St. in Bennington, VT died Wednesday January 2, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of William Tatro for the past 40 years.

Karen was born on September 26, 1954 in Hoosick Falls, New York. She was the daughter of the late Beatrice (Simmons) Shiland. She received her education in Hoosick Falls and was a graduate of Hoosick Falls High School.

Karen was employed as a para educator in the Bennington School District for 24 years before retiring in 2014. She enjoyed going to the ocean on vacation with her family. Karen cherished the time spent with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband William Tatro of Bennington, her daughter Meghan and her husband Wesley Wade of Bennington, VT, her son Joshua Tatro and his fiancé Julia Eisenacher of Orlando, Florida. Her grandchildren, Avery, Kenlee and Declan Wade of Bennington. Karen also has two sister in laws, Annette Sausville and Patricia Squires both of Bennington and a brother in law, David Tatro of North Carolina. Karen is also survived by an aunt Mary-Lou Simmons of Glens Falls, NY and a niece, Susan Strofelleno Herring of Panton, VT.

The funeral will be held at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday January 4, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Wiseman officiating
