Kalene Marie McGurn, "KK", a resident of Depot St. in Bennington died unexpectedly Friday March 3, 2017 at the Rutland Regional Medical Center following a motor vehicle accident in Pittsfield, VT.
She was born in Rutland, VT. November 19, 1993. She was the daughter of Thomas M. and Kelli (McAuliffe) McGurn. Kalene received her education in Bennington and was a 2012 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School. She most recently was taking classes at the Community College of Vermont.
Kalene had been employed at CVS Pharmacy, her first job, where she worked for several years. She had also worked in the Early Education Center of the Learning Tree at SVMC, The Spiral Press Cafe in Manchester, as well as The National Hanger.
She was best known to her mom and dad as "Little Bean". Kalene had enjoyed, drawing, coloring, reading, and fishing. But most enjoyed relaxing and playing with her dogs Sunni & Marki, and her cat Xero. While a student at both Sacred Heart School and MAUHS she was also a member of both the soccer and basketball teams. Recently Kalene's life, time, and devotion had been spent with the love of her life, and her whole world, her daughter Dempsey.
Survivors include her daughter, Dempsey Lee Pyne of Bennington, her parents Thomas and Kelli McGurn of Bennington; Her older sister Megan McGurn of Bennington. Her maternal grandmother, Barbara McAuliffe of Bennington and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Her boyfriend and the father of her daughter, Daniel Pyne of Bennington. She was pre-deceased by her paternal grandmother, Dorothy "GDot" McGurn, her paternal grandfather, Richard "Dick" McGurn, and her maternal Poppa, Maurice "Mo" McAuliffe.
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday March 10, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m.
The burial will take place in the family lot at Park Lawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
