WOODFORD
June Salmon, 89, a resident of Woodford, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Bennington Health & Rehabilitation following a brief illness.
June was born on May 31, 1928 in Mechanicville, NY, daughter of the late Edward and Eleanor (Kenney) Viall. June received her education in the Mechanicville schools and was a graduate of Mechanicville High School. Following high school June graduated from cosmetology school.
June first married the late John Kittle and later married William Salmon who died in 2000.
In earlier years June was employed at BenMont Paper Company. Together with her husband Bill she later owned and operated the Dumont Motel in Wilton, NY. Following retirement June and Bill resided in Bunnell, Florida. After Bill's death June returned to Vermont and lived in Woodford with her daughter and step-son, Charlene and Don Foster. During that time she spent her winters with grandchildren in Virginia, Colchester, Vermont and brother in Mechanicville.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Don Foster of Woodford; six grandchildren, Shelley Mauck of Front Royal, VA, Tracey Stratton of Antioch, CA, Shannon Martello and her husband Dan of Fort Pierce, FL; Scott Foster and his wife Catherine Gilligan of Bennington; Melissa Foster and her husband, Dave Steer of San Francisco, CA and Brendan Foster and his wife Trina Zide of Ferrisburg, VT; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert and Thomas Viall and a sister, Evelyn Camerato, all of Mechanicville and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. June was predeceased by a daughter, Wanda Kittel Kirshner in 1995 and by six brothers and sisters.
Private committal services will take place at the convenience of the family at Center Shaftsbury Cemetery.
