Judith Marie (Dupree) Simon, 73, A resident of Shaftsbury, Vermont. Passed away peacefully at her home on May 31st, 2023 following a long illness. Born on December 19th, 1949 in Mount Vernon, New York, She was the daughter of the late Arthur Michael and Wanda Josephine (Kowal) Dupree. Judith received her early education in Littleton, Massachusetts and graduated from Littleton High School with the class of 1967. She later received a Nursing degree from Lowell University (Now UMass Lowell) and then her associates degree in theatre arts in 1985 and began a career in theatre. For about 14 years she was a nurse in the Boston, MA, Miami, Florida and El Paso, Texas areas. Following her career as a nurse she became a co-director in her late husband's theatre company. The Guild Players Touring Company started by her husband, which she joined in 1987, toured all around New England performing for nearly 30 years. Besides her careers as a nurse and a co-director, Judith enjoyed gardening, and backpacking. She enjoyed seeing the United States and loved its beauty and culture. Judith was also an avid animal lover and will be deeply missed by her dogs; Angel and Abba. As well as her cat; Emma. Judith was predeceased by her husband David Paul Simon who passed away in 2013. Survivors include her son; Joseph Ewing of Ashburnham, MA. Her stepsons; Matthew and Jonathan Simon and their families. A granddaughter; Grace McKinley Ewing. A sister; Shelley DiRusso. Her brothers; Henry and Paul Dupree. As well as a good friend; Roger Gilman, and close personal friend and caregiver; Tanya VanNess. A Memorial Service for Judith will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, June 7th, 2023, at the Howard Park Pavilion on Howard Park Road in Shaftsbury, Vermont If friends should desire, contributions in memory of Judith may be made to the 2nd Chance Animal Shelter, through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, Vermont 05201
