Judith Florence Rose

April 12, 1943 — June 2, 2024

Judith (Judy) Florence Rose, 81, a resident of Buskirk, New York, passed away peacefully at The Center for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, Vermont, on June 2, 2024. Born on April 12, 1943, in Newark, New Jersey, Judy was the daughter of the late William and Connie (Thompson) Rose. She was raised in New Jersey, where she completed her high school education. After she was married, Judy moved to Pownal, Vermont, where she lovingly raised her five children. She later settled in Buskirk, NY. Judy pursued higher education at Southern Vermont College in Bennington. She worked for many years at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and later at The Vermont Veterans Home, both located in Bennington. She later worked for the Vermont Department of Labor until her retirement. Judy, known fondly to her grandchildren as Grandma Judy, embraced life with a zest and humor that was infectious. She often referred to herself as an "old bitty" and was a proud founding member of the Old Bitty Club, a title she wore with great pride and a twinkle in her eye. She had an endless love for trying new foods but always had a special place in her heart (and stomach) for Moe’s, Fuji’s, and Olive Garden. If you wanted to win her over, a meal, or two from any of these places was the way to go. And let’s not forget her ultimate fuel – Diet Pepsi. It was more than just a drink; it practically ran through her veins! Judy had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel and explore new places. Whether it was a trip to the grocery store, a cruise to the Bahamas, or a flight to the other side of the world, she was always ready for the next adventure. Above all, Judy adored her family, especially her 3 grandchildren, who were the light of her life, and her loyal dog, Midnight, her constant protector and best friend, always by her side providing comfort and entertainment. Her home was always filled with joy and laughter, kept vibrant by the flowers only she could nurture, and above all, it was filled with love. Judy will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Judy is survived by her four children - Diane Severino, Denise Severino (James O’Leary) Debra Blanchfield (Jason Blanchfield) & David Severino, her three grandchildren Justin Blanchfield, Daniel Blanchfield, and Arthur O’Leary, and her two brothers and their families - Robert Rose (Margaret) and Thomas Rose (Marianne). Her son, Dominick Severino, predeceased her. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral services held for Judy.
