BENNINGTON-
Judith I. Blake, 77, a resident of North Bennington Road in Bennington, died on Saturday, January 15th, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Bennington on October 14th, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Irene (Dunbar) Burgess. Judy received her education in North Bennington schools and at Bennington Catholic High School.
She married Michael C. Blake Sr. on March 11th, 1961, at Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church.
In earlier years, Judy worked various jobs before becoming a full-time mother for her 8 children. After raising her children she worked in the cafeteria at Georgia Elementary School. Later in life she dedicated her time to her grandchildren and even later her great grandchildren. Grandma (which she was known as) enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to cook, bake, ceramics and even crocheting, but what grandma enjoyed most of all was traveling to spend time and spread joy to her big family. Grandma's perfect Sunday was watching her favorite team the New England Patriots surrounded by family enjoying a bowl of chili.
Survivors include her six children, Kelly Mayer (Ronald) of Bennington, VT, Jamie Blake (Anne) of Lula, GA, Shannon Blake of Shelburne, VT, Shane Blake (Donna) of Colchester, VT, Melissa Blake (Charles Hoffman Jr.) of Severn, MD and Chad Blake (Heather Uline) of Alburgh, VT. Mayer and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
