Judith (Butera) Berry, of Bennington Vermont, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, cousin and friend. She left this world peacefully on May 15, 2022 at the age of 80.
Judy was born to the late Eldo and Lena (Cesaro) Butera on April 18, 1942 in Schenectady, New York. She was married for 49 years to Ray O. Berry, who passed away on November 27th, 2016. Judy was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and SUNY @ Oneonta, where she received her teaching degree. Judy wanted to help young people discover a passion for learning.
Judy loved spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals for her family, friends and loved ones. She enjoyed going on walks, watching the Boston Red Socks games with Ray, reading books, coloring, doing needlepoint, crossword puzzles, Dove Dark Chocolate and the color purple. Judy also loved to play monopoly and cards with her grandchildren. She loved listening to country music and Lawrence Welk, and would sing along while doing her favorite activities. Judy would make cat toys, buy cat food and take her grandchildren to the local animal shelter to donate them. Most of all, Judy loved her husband Ray dearly, as well as her sons, and grandchildren. She absolutely loved spending time with her family and friends. One could always count on her for a helping hand, a warm hug, and endless love and support. She will be greatly missed by everyone who's life she touched, and shall be remembered as a gentle smiling soul.
She leaves behind her two sons; Scott Berry, of Leander, TX, and Jeff (Nancy) Berry, of Bennington, VT. Her grandchildren; Noelle, Gabrielle, Katie, Baeley, and Konner. Judy is also survived by her niece, Donna Butera Menneto, and nephew, Bob (Carol) Butera. Two special cousins; Susan Bradshaw, and Jovina O'Brien, who she referred to as a sister. She also leaves many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews as well.
While Judy's family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember Judy in a way that honors her spirit. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will take place at the Bible Baptist Church, Harwood Hill on June 18th at 4pm.
