John Peyton Steel

John P. Steel, 81 of Arlington, VT passed away on November 4, 2023, at the home of his son, Phillip, following a lengthy illness. John was born on November 21, 1941, in Bennington, VT, the son of Henry M. and Lucille (Knott) Steel. He married the former Janet Wright in August of 1964. Janet passed away in March 2020. A longtime resident of Arlington, John grew up as a farmer. He graduated from UMass Amherst with a degree in Animal Husbandry. John became an accomplished welder and auto mechanic operating his own shop for many years. John was a big enthusiast of the local stock car racing scene. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law; Phillip and Donna Steel of Brunswick, NY and Andrew and Julie Steel of Beaver, WV. Services will be 3:00 pm on November 20th at St. James Episcopal Church in Arlington, with a reception to follow.
