John P. Mcclay

John P. McClay, Jr., 69, of Bennington, VT, passed away on February 7, 2024 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY., surrounded by his family. John was born in Brattleboro, VT on October 25, 1954, the son of John P. Sr., and Myrtle (Wright) McClay. John was raised by his grandparents, Harold and Leona Wright, in East Dover, VT. He was married to the former Louise Johnson. In his younger years, John worked at Mt. Snow in West Dover. He later worked for Janitronics in Clifton Park, NY. John enjoyed fishing gardening and going to Bennington Project Independence. He also loved spending time with his dogs, especially his dog Phoebe who survives him. John is survived by his wife, Louise McClay, of Bennington, VT, his daughter, Holly (Sidney) Young,of Bennington, VT, his granddaughter, Hailey Young a nephew and niece, Michael Hurd and MJ Lunzman, of Aberdeen, SD. He was predeceased by his biological parents, a son, Richard Gordon McClay, 5 uncles and 3 aunts. Services for John will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
