John Hurley

John William Hurley, 92, passed into eternal life on Thursday, April 13, 2023, in New York City. He was born on June 30, 1930, in Bennington, Vermont, to parents William John Hurley and Mary (nee Whittner) Hurley. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Arlene Patete Hurley, son William John Hurley, and daughter-in-law, Liubov, nieces Ana and Maria, and nephew Ralph. A long-time resident of the upper west side of Manhattan, John was a social worker for the Department of Education in the Bronx. He was an avid sportsman and loved boxing and basketball. He was a wonderful husband, father, uncle and friend to many, and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be Sunday, April 16 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Torregrossa Funeral Home, 1305 79th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11228. The funeral mass will be at the Church of the Ascension, 221 West 107th Street, NY, NY 10025. Interment will take place at Bennington Park Lawn Cemetery, South Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
