John Linton Dame

John “Jay” Dame, 59, a resident of Bennington, Vermont, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 8th, 2023, following a brief illness. Born on January 7th, 1964, in Bennington, he was the son of Richard and Judith (Tefft) Dame. Jay received his early education in Bennington and later graduated from Mount Anthony Union High School with the class of 1983. Following graduation, Jay began working for Haynes and Kane Inc. as a furniture delivery person. He also worked for some time as a residential counselor at 204 and 206 Depot Street for Seall Inc. Jay enjoyed watching the New York Jets, Detroit Tigers, and Boston Bruins. He also enjoyed watching and participating in local sports, including softball, golf, and the Vermont Storm football team. Besides his sports interests, Jay loved his late dog Cassie and spending time with all his family, especially his nieces. Survivors include his father, Richard Dame. His brother and his sister-in-law, Kyle and Mindy Dame. His nieces, Meredith and Leah. As well as many friends and extended family. Jay is predeceased by his mother; Judith Dame. As well as his grandparents, Ann and Linton Tefft. Friends are invited to attend calling hours at Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 4 pm till 6 pm.
