John M. Bushee (Bushee)

He was born in Bennington, VT on January 4, 1947 and was the son of the late Leonard and Mary Fay Catherine (Sparks) Bushee. He received his education in the Bennington schools, and at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY. John was employed at Eagle Square Plant in Shaftsbury as a Tool and Die maker for Stanley Tools for 30 years.
He also worked for ten years at Bijur Lubricating in Bennington.
John enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. He and his wife, Janice, raised thirty-four foster children in the span of twelve years and they ran Shady Acres Campground in Pownal for over 20 years.
John married the former Janice Gates in Bennington on May 25, 1968. Mrs. Bushee survives. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Denise Marie Sauer-Lariscy and her husband Dr. David Lariscy, of Pownal, VT and one son John M. Bushee, Jr. and his wife Nancy Ann (Riley) Bushee of Pownal, VT. John leaves four grandchildren: Aubrie Janice Sauer, Ryan Walter Sauer, Jasmine Morgan Bushee, and Joshua John David Lariscy, all of Pownal, VT.
John also has two brothers; William (Judy) Bushee of South Carolina, Monte Bushee of Bennington, VT and two sisters: Fay LaRiviere of Hoosick Falls, NY and Janet Sausville of Bennington, VT.
At John's request, there will not be any funeral services: Friends may call at the family home, 541 Jackson Cross Rd. in Pownal, VT on Friday, May 27, 2016 from 4-7 PM for a celebration of life.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Village Ambulance Service, 30 Water St. Williamstown, MA. 01267, or to the Southwestern Vermont Cancer Center Patient's Resource Fund, 140 Hospital Drive, Bennington, VT 05201
Funeral services will be under the direction of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
