John Alfred Burdick

September 15, 1939 — February 4, 2025

John Alfred Burdick Sr., a lifetime resident of North Pownal, VT - beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away on February 4, 2025 at home at the age of 85. John was born on September 15, 1939 the son of Lawrence and Ora Jean (Champney) Burdick in North Pownal, Vermont. He attended Hoosick Falls High School and proudly served in the United States Navy. He worked for most of his life as a carpenter ending his career as a locksmith at Williams College, and retired in 2001. John enjoyed spending time with family, hunting, fishing and camping. John will be remembered as an integral part of the community, dedicated to his wife and family. He will be truly missed. He is survived, and lovingly remembered by his children: John (Lucille DiLeo), Tammy Cozine (Liam Breslin), Gerald “Andy” (Oonagh), Alice MacIntyre (Roger Williams). Eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his siblings: Leland (Ruth), Gerald (Patricia), Mary Campbell (Curt), Linda Raetz (Ed), Lois Maxin (Gary), Louis, Elaine Schnoop (Randy) and Marcia Wilson (Ben). John was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Rita. He was also predeceased by brothers, Lawrence and Alan. A special thanks to the VA services of the Southwest Region, VNA and Hospice. With special thanks to Dr. Michael Daley and social worker Kaitlin Hallmark for their expert and compassionate care of John. A private service for John will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
