John M. Blume, 62, a resident of Twitchell Hill in Shaftsbury, VT died Tuesday October 12, 2021 at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY surrounded by his family.
He was born in Boston, MA September 14, 1959. He was the son of the late John W. and Jaye C. (Floyd) Blume. John received his education and was a graduate of Mount Everett High School in Sheffield, MA. He later attended cosmetology school in Boston.
He married the former Susan Godkin on September 30, 1984 at the Old First Church in old Bennington.
For over 40 years John was a hair stylist and manager of the Clip Shop in Bennington for Vasso Stamatakos and Luiz Carlos Deabreu. The Clip Shop was his second family. He loved to interact with his clients and always made them feel special. Enjoying every person to the fullest.
The most important thing to John was his family. He loved them with all his heart, along with his cat Mr. Tibbs. He was an avid New England sports fan which brought much joy to his life. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and playing golf. Also enjoyed his craft beer, cooking, spending time Camp at Lake Willoughby, creating memories. When his kids were young he loved watching them compete along with coaching their youth sports. He lived by the three F's"¦Forced, Family, Fun.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Blume of Shaftsbury, VT. His daughter, McKenzie Blume of Woodford and a son, Christopher Blume of Shaftsbury. A sister Maureen Blume of Sheffield, MA. Two brothers, Michael and Douglas Blume both of Sheffield. Along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Carol "Jess" Blume.
At John's request there will be no calling hours.
A celebration of John's life will be held at the Henry House in North Bennington on October 31, 2021 from noon to 4:00 p.m. A special toast to John will take place at 3:00 p.m. Casual attire is requested.
