John George Steitz Babcock

John Babcock passed away from complications with chronic lymphocytic leukemia on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the Williamstown Commons Hospice at the age of 71. John was born on February 13, 1951 at Bronxville Hospital in Bronxville, New York. He was the second son of William F. Babcock, Jr. and Mary Eleanor Steitz Babcock, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ann Alghren Babcock of Bennington, Vt., and his brother, William F. Babcock III, (Maureen) from Covington, LA. He is also survived by two nephews, Liam Babcock, (Melissa), and Colin Babcock (Amanda), and one grandnephew, Gilen. John graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School in Fairfield, Conn in 1969, where he competed on the swim team. He worked for Dow Corning Wright as a medical implant salesman from 1984 until his retirement in 2018. John had a love of the outdoors, particularly the Berkshire Mountains, Corvettes, playing drums with friends and the rock musical groups Rush, The Moody Blues, and Vanilla Fudge. Final arrangements will be made by E.P. Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington, Vermont. Services for John will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of John may be made directly to the funeral home to help the family with final expenses.
