Joanne Louise (Rogalski) Betit, 54, a loving wife, mother, sister, cousin, and dear friend to many, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9 in Bridgewater, Mass. Born Oct. 16, 1961 in Bennington, Vt. to Helen and Casimir Rogalski, she was one of five siblings. Growing up in Bennington, she loved summer picnics with the family at Emerald Lake and Hapgood Pond, and winters skiing, sledding, and building snow forts in the back yard. She graduated Mount Anthony Union High School in 1979 and attended SUNY Cobleskill. After college, she worked as a teller and customer service representative for seven years at Chittenden Bank in Bennington. She married Jeffrey L. Betit of Bennington June 27th 1987 and the couple settled in Bridgewater where Joanne worked for 26 years at Dedham Savings Bank, working her way up to branch manager in a short period of time. Joanne was adored by her colleagues and customers. She enjoyed visits from children and she created the bank's first children's savings plan that she named All-Star Savers. She was a remarkable hostess, and with her infectious humor and creativity could turn a birthday, anniversary, or any simple event into a memorable special occasion. She loved to cook, and was especially proud to maintain her mother's tradition of cooking Polish food for the holidays. She was a nurturing mother and was deeply proud of her sons Collin and Cameron who for years she dutifully drove to early morning and late night hockey practices. In addition to her husband and sons she is survived by three siblings: Robert Rogalski (Penny) of VT; Laurie Rogalski of VT; and James Rogalski (Susana Dancy) of N.C. Her father in law and mother in law Louis and Julia Betit of Bennington; Her brothers-in-law Timothy Betit and Peggy of Marshfield and Alan Betit and Chris Fink of of NY; Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The funeral will be from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday February 16, at 10:30 a.m. with a prayer and then from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church at 11:00 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered.
The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington..
