Joan L. Hebert, 81, a long-time resident of Bennington, VT, and more recently of Pittstown, NY, passed away Saturday, January 7th at Samaritan
Hospital in Troy, NY after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. She passed peacefully with her family by her side.
Joan was born in Somerville, MA on March 24, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Eleanor (Blood) Nay, and Kenneth Nay (stepfather).
Joan married William H. Hebert on November 7, 1964. Mr. Hebert passed on December 4, 2012.
In earlier years, she was briefly employed at the Pownal Tannery. Her love of family and children sparked her to start a day care out of her home, which she ran for many years.
Joan was a member of the Green Mountain Christian Church for more than three decades, where she was a very active member, participating in women's bible studies, holiday plays and most importantly to her, overseeing the nursery and child care program for years.
She loved doing arts and crafts, and attending ceramic classes.
Survivors include his three daughters, Janice Alvarado, Judy Barkley, and Kimberly Hebert-Lejeune; two sons, John Cooley and William Hebert; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A Memorial celebration of her life will be held at the Green Mountain Christian Church in Bennington, VT in the Spring.
Burial will take place in the family plot at Park Lawn Cemetery in the Spring.
