Jill Nelson Levin 89, a resident of Cleveland Avenue Shaftsbury died at home peacefully on June 3rd 2024. Born in Shaftsbury on September 3rd, 1934 she was the daughter of the late Peter and Kathleen (Hill) Nelson. She received her education in the North Bennington Schools were she was active in Field Hockey, Glee Club and Cheerleading graduating in 1953. Jill’s family and home were her main interest. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and involved with the local Fresh Air Program. Lew and Jill were staunch supporters of the American Legion Baseball team and traveled many miles with them over the years. Jill was a devout member of the St. John the Baptist Church, she was a member of the Ladies Sodality and Director of the church Food Shelf. In 2003 she was the recipient of the “Recognition of Woman and Ministry” award by Bishop Angell. Survivors include her five children; Maria (Robert) Deluca, Peter (Tatum) Levin, Corrinne Levin, Lianne (Jason) Rush, Lew (Chip) Levin Jr along with eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre deceased by the love her life Lew Levin whom she married on May 26th, 1956 celebrating 62 years together and her only sister Jean (Edward) Rice. The funeral will be held at St. John the Baptist Church on Friday, June 21st at 5:30pm where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered with a celebration of Jill’s life to follow. Lew and Jill will be laid to rest together on Saturday, June 22nd at 10:00 am with military honors at the St. John the Baptist Cemetery in North Bennington. Memorial contributions in Jill’s memory may be made to the American Legion Post 13 Baseball Club through the office of Mahar’s Funeral Home 628 Main Street Bennington, VT.
