Jeremy “Shorty” Fortier, 46, a resident of Bennington, Vermont passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 16th , 2024, at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York Shorty was born June 3rd , 1977 in North Adams, MA to James “Rebel” Fortier and Rhonda Jill Fortier (Fisher). He was raised in Bennington, and received his education at Mount Anthony Union High School, graduating in 1996. After graduating, Shorty attended a Technical School in Lima, OH, and later finished his education at Hudson Valley Community College earned his degree in Automotive Technical Services . Shorty worked at many local auto repair shops; his most recent being Carpinellos in Williamstown, MA. “Shorty,” would be described by many as a Daredevil. He liked anything that could go fast or had an engine. He owned dirt bikes, snowmobiles and loved to ride them in his spare time. From an early age, he was a gifted BMX rider. At one point he was ranked as one of the top 10 riders in the country. Shorty also loved to skateboard, snowboard, and even cliff dive. Survivors include; his parents, Rhonda and James. His sisters; Jamie Fortier (Billy Cote), and Julie Fortier. His nieces; Alivia and Natalie Cote. As well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Shorty is predeceased by his grandparents William and Jean Fisher. A Celebration of Life for Jeremy “Shorty” Fortier will be held at 1pm on March 9th, 2024 at the Bennington VFW Post 1332 on North Street. If friends should desire, contributions in memory of Shorty may be made directly to Mahar Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, Vermont. To assist the family with the funeral expenses.
