Jeffrey Lee Bombard, 75, a resident of Pageant St. in Bennington, VT died Tuesday August 28, 2018 at his residence following a long illness.
He was born in Plattsburgh, New York January 6, 1943. He was the son of the late George and Jeanne (Torrey) Bombard. Jeff served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Korea and briefly in Vietnam. When returned stateside he served in Classified Documents where he had an in depth view of unfolding events such as The Cuban Missile Crisis, Bay of Pigs and the Kennedy Assassination.
He married the former Darlene Derby in 1975 in Bennington, VT
In earlier years Jeff was employed at Singer Sewing Machine Company. For 15 years he had been employed with Bantam Doubleday Dell Publishing Group and for 10 years Jeff was employed at Paul J. Martin Petroleum Distributors in Bennington from which he retired
He served on both the Mount Anthony Union High School and the Southwestern Vermont Supervisory Union Boards. An avid outdoorsmen, Jeff also enjoyed model railroading and building doll houses. He donated his train sets to the Mount Anthony Union High School
Survivors include his wife Darlene Bombard of Bennington. His children, Susan Johnson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Lee Renee Scott (Steven) of Germantown, Kentucky, Jeffrey Matthew Bombard (Nao) of Sapporo, Japan and Carolyn Bombard of Cincinnati, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Steven, Stephanie, Jessica, Jeffery, Brianna, Cassidy and Kentaro. A sister, Sandra Mancini, two half- brothers, George and Peter Bombard, a step-brother Gerald Churchill and step-mother Barbara Bombard. Along with his wife's immediate and extended family and several nephews. He was predeceased by a half-sister, Joanne Bombard, a half-brother, Garry Bombard, and a step-sister, Pam Churchill.
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday September 4, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The funeral service to celebrate Jeff's life will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
The burial with military honors will be held at the Gerald B. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on Wednesday September 5, at 11:00 am
