Jeffery Richard Kinney

Jeffery Richard Kinney, 57, a resident of Twitchell Hill Road in Shaftsbury, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.

Jeff was born in Bennington, VT on January 6, 1963. He was the son of the late Robert and Joan (Williams) Kinney. He received his education in Bennington and was a 1982 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School.

Jeff began his career in the restaurant business at an early age. He first worked at the Four Squires Restaurant and for many years was a cook at the Blue Benn Diner. He was also a cook at Kevin's Restaurant and T.J.'s Fish Fry. Jeff owned and operated the Top Notch Diner in Bennington.

Jeffery was a former member of the Bennington Lodge of Elks #567. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, and four-wheeling. Jeff had a love for animals, including taking care of his childhood family's pony, "Peter". He especially enjoyed taking his dog, "Notchy" for walks.

Survivors include his daughter, Kiona Kinney and her boyfriend, Noah Brewer of Bennington. The youngest of six children, Jeff leaves his brothers and sisters, as well as their significant others. Michael Kinney and Patty of Bennington, Gary Kinney and Doreen of Shaftsbury, Melinda Dickie and Scott of North Bennington, Colleen Gore and Geoff of Bennington, and Wendy Ripley and T.J. of Shaftsbury. His former wife, Denise Huether and Steve of Shaftsbury, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jeff will be buried in the family lot at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington at the convenience of the family.

Due to Covid 19, there will be no calling hours or services at this time.

A celebration of Jeff's life will be held at a later date.
