Jeannette J. Pierce (Joly)

November 8, 1925 — February 28, 2021

Mrs. Jeannette J. Pierce, 95, widow of Francis H. "Pete" Pierce, a longtime resident of Bennington, VT died Sunday February 28, 2021 in Florida.

She was born in Cohoes, NY November 8, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Edgar C. and Anna (Lambert) Joly. Jeannette was a graduate of the former Bennington High School and St. Joseph's Business College in Bennington.

Mr. and Mrs. Pierce were married January 12, 1946 at Sacred Heart Church in Bennington. Mr. Pierce died December 19, 1997.

In earlier years Mrs. Pierce was employed at the Wills Insurance Agency in Bennington until the time of her retirement in 1988.

Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Gershaneck and her husband Lane of Lady Lake, Florida, Carol Downing of Lady Lake and Kimberley Benner of Bennington, VT. A son, Edgar J. Pierce and his wife Kathy of Bonita Springs, Florida. Fourteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; two sisters, Loretta Nicholson of Albany, NY and Beatrice Kniese of Cohoes, NY along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Pierce was pre-deceased her husband, Francis "Pete' Pierce, a granddaughter, Michaela Maxine Benner and by a brother, Edgar Joly.

A celebration of Jeannette's life will be held at a later date for the convenience of the times and family.
