Jean Pearce Shea aged ninety-seven (97) passed away peacefully on June the 4th, 2024 at The Center for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, Vermont. Jean was born in Garrison, Maryland on October the 12th, 1926 to Rose and Robert Pearce. Jean attended and graduated from The Georgetown School of Nursing where she met James Seward Shea from Bennington, Vermont who was in medical school in Washington, and she practiced as an RN at the University of Vermont Health Clinic while Jim was in medical school there and then at the Putnam Memorial Hospital in Bennington, Vermont. After Jean married Jim in 1949, they moved to Bennington and they raised their five children there. Jean was always full of life, lived for her family, made everyone laugh and was a fierce defender of the underdog. Mrs. Shea leaves behind her five children: Sharon Ann Shea-Keneally (Gerald), James Seward Shea, Jr., Michael Joseph Shea (Terri), Erin Elizabeth Parmenter (deceased) (Bruce), Lauren Marie Shea (Paula Miner). She has sixteen (16) grandchildren and twenty-three (23) great-grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters: Donna Pulis (Richard) of Shaftsbury, Vermont and Patricia Garrish of Annapolis, Maryland. Truly a fine life - well lived! At Jean’s request there will be no service.
