Janice Squires, 83 of Bennington, Vermont was a beloved mother and grandmother.
She passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017.
Born in Troy, New York on March 17, 1934 to the late Winfred Olof Robinson and Caroline Grace (Nims) Robinson.
She took great pride in attending the Central City Business Institute in Syracuse, New York and later was employed at Mt. Anthony Union High School, and the Town of Bennington's Town Manager's Office and Water Department.
Janice was first married to the late Willard Metcalfe, and was later married to the late Joseph Squires.
Jan enjoyed vacations in Cape Elizabeth, Maine and Plymouth, MA, playing the piano, her weekly lunches with her best friend Carol and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
She leaves several sons and their spouses, step-daughters, grandchildren & great-grandchildren: Willard and Michelle Metcalfe of Bellows Falls and their children Jacob, Jourdan, Megan & Cody. Kathy Carrier of Bennington and her children Miranda and Clayton, Jeff and Debbie Metcalfe of Plymouth, MA and their son Trevor, The late Debbie Bump and her children Michelle, Joe and Bobbie. Brent Metcalfe and Sue Derendal of Plymouth, MA and their children Jeremy and Samantha. The late Peter Metcalfe and his wife Jene of Bennington and their children Geoff, Jason and Kerrie-Sue. Wynn and Sue Metcalfe of Shaftsbury and their children Jennifer and Meghan, and her great-grandchildren: Rae Ann, Eliza, Alayna, Immen, Austin, Alyvia & Amber.
She leaves several nieces and nephews: Barbara Payne, Cathy Payne, James Payne, John Payne and Carole Hurley.
At Mrs. Squires request, there will be no calling hours.
A service to celebrate the life of Janice Darling Squires will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 200 Pleasant Street in Bennington on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
The burial will take place in the Spring at the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington.
