Janet Wright Steel, 75, of Arlington, Vermont died on March 3, 2020 in Bennington following a brief illness.
Janet was born on December 4, 1944 and was the daughter of the late Arnold and Georgianna (Lane) Wright. She received her education in Bennington schools, and is a graduate of Bennington High School. She married John Steel in Bennington. Mr. Steel survives. Janet had been a Cub Scout Den Mother when her boys were young. She had worked as the bookkeeper in the family welding business in Arlington for many years.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons: Phillip (Donna) Steel of Brunswick, New York and Andrew (Julie) Steel of Beaver, West Virginia. Janet has one grandson, Cody Steel. Janet leaves one sister, Joanna Napolitano of Bennington, and one niece Lisa (Scott) Gagnon, whom Janet was very close too, and her nephew, Carmen J. Napolitano, Jr. At Janet's request, there will be a private service for the family, followed by a celebration of her life in the spring.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter, through the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff at SVMC for the exceptional care that Janet received while in the hospital.
