Jane Ellen Tudor

Jane Ellen Tudor, 79 of North Bennington, VT, passed away Wednesday October 19, 2022 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. Jane was born in Bennington, VT on May 16, 1943 the daughter of Howard and Esther (Dunnel) Tudor. She was a proud part of the Benn Hi Class of 1961. Jane married Gerald Elwell on May 15th, 1983. Jane loved spending time with Jerry. They spent a lot of time at the ocean in Maine, Rhode Island, Cape Cod and other New England places. Jane worked hard all of her life. At the time of Jane’s death she was still employed as the bookkeeper for the North Bennington Water Department. A large amount of Jane’s career was spent in the fields of Human Resource, finance, and administration. During this time Jane was employed at both Johnson Controls and Hemmings Motor News in Bennington. Jane is survived by her husband and best friend, Gerald Elwell of North Bennington, VT; her brother Bill Tudor (Deborah); her children; Todd Maddox (Crystal Persons), William Elwell (Carrie), Jamie Elwell (Malynda). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Todd Maddox Jr, Tyler Maddox, Amber Maddox, Kayleah Maddox, Gabrielle Barney, Katlyn Galusha, Ali Zaiac, Will Elwell, Nic Longar, Patrick Mclenithan, and Jacob Jelley. Jane was really looking forward to the birth of a great grandchild in December. Jane is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews including her beloved cousin Barbara Hogan of Bennington. Jane loved being active and helping others especially through her work with the Norshaft Lions Club. She was also a life member of the American Legion and the Elks Club in Bennington. Jane loved quilting, knitting, and cooking. While it had become difficult for her to craft, she still loved to cook. She enjoyed trying new recipes, and still creating her favorites. Certainly her deviled eggs are at the top of the list for foods that will be missed. Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 29, 2022 at 12:00 pm at the Mahar Funeral Home 628 Main Street in Bennington. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 12:00. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Norshaft Lions Club.
