Jane A. Adams: July 24, 1943 - March 2, 2018

Jane A. Adams, a 30+ year resident of "The Funny Farm" in Pownal, VT passed away after a long illness on March 2nd. A Brooklyn native, Jane grew up in Forest Hills, NY, graduated from Pembroke College in Brown University in 1965 and got her law degree from Boston University in 1968. After practicing law in New York City and being a staff attorney at the NYC Commission on Human Rights, she moved to Pownal in 1975.

Jane practiced law for years in Bennington and was a passionate advocate for her clients, many of them women facing abusive or difficult home situations. Her great passions were her animals and The Farm. She rescued four thoroughbreds that had been abandoned after horse racing failed at the Green Mountain track. She also "adopted" countless stray dogs and cats over the years. She laughingly dubbed her farm "the Funny Farm" and the name stuck. Through the years she held hysterical horse shows and enabled many children to become riders and enjoy horses and The Farm.

Jane loved her Pownal and Bennington community and was proud to call the area home. She is predeceased by her parents Dorothy (Everitt) Andrews, formerly Dorothy Aja, and Arthur E. Adams, and her brother Michael E. Adams. She is survived by her nieces and nephew: Karen Adams Finley, Michelle Adams and Chris Adams, their families and countless friends. Family and friends are invited to share stories and raise a glass in her memory Sunday, March 18th at 5:00 pm at the Publyk House (Historic Route 7A, 782 Harwood Hill, Bennington). Gifts can be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter (http://www.2ndchanceanimalcenter.org) in her memory.
