JAMES McLENITHAN OBITUARY
BENNINGTON, VERMONT

James Arthur "Jamie" McLenithan, age 78, a resident of South Stream Road in Pownal, died on Monday, November 28, 2016 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Bennington on June 20, 1938 and was the son of the late George H. and Harriett A. (Amidon) McLenithan. He received his education in Bennington, and attended Bennington High School, and was a graduate of Vermont Technical College School of Agriculture.
Jamie proudly served in the Marine Corp from 1959 " 1964.
On August 28, 1965 he married the former Mary Bushee in Dorset, VT.
Over the years, Jamie had been employed at Fairdale Farms in Bennington, Thompson Manufacturing in Bennington and retired from the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation also in Bennington.
He has enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling, woodworking, gardening, cooking and working the family farm.

He is a former member of the Bennington Elks Lodge and American Legion Post #13 of Bennington.
Besides his loving wife Mary of fifty-one years, he is survived by two children: Dale (Shannon) McLenithan of Pownal and Erika (Gene) Humphrey of Milton, VT. He leaves five grandchildren: Patrick and Hunter McLenithan, and Breanna Tatro, all of Pownal and Megan and Alyson Humprey of Milton.
Jamie is survived by one brother, Harold "Skip" McLenithan, also of Pownal, one uncle, Gerald Amidon of Bennington as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as many "adopted sons".

He is predeceased by one brother, Henry McLenithan.

Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon, December 3, 2016 from 12:00PM until 2:00PM. A celebration of life will be held immediately following at the Pownal American Legion Post #90 starting at 2:30PM.

Memorial donations may be made to the Pownal Rescue Squad, at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home.
