JAMES KNIGHTS OBITUARY
BENNINGTON, VERMONT

James A. Knights, age 65 a resident of Gage Street in Bennington died on Monday morning, January 23, 2017 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born in Bennington on June 23, 1951, and was the son of the late Morton S. Knights and Rosemarie (Dufresne) Knights who survives. He received his education in Bennington, and is a graduate of St. Joseph's College, currently Southern Vermont College in Bennington with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
He married the former Diane Hoyt on October 21, 1972 at St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington. Mrs. Knights survives.

James was employed at First National in earlier years, and then went to work for Stanley Tools in Shaftsbury, where he was employed for thirty years. He was a computer analyst and Master Scheduler.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, and vegetable gardening. He was an avid automobile enthusiast, who enjoyed stock car racing, fast cars and tinkering on them too. In his earlier years he raced several motorcycle Enduros.
He became an avid photographer, and along with his wife they began photography as a hobby and it blossomed into a good retirement business. They photographed everywhere, but their favorite was the drag races at Lebanon Valley in New York State.

Besides his wife of forty four years, and his mother, he leaves two daughters; Jennifer (Sean) Thornell of Goshen, NY, and Melissa (Floyd) Amidon of Pownal, VT. James has two grandchildren; Aiden and Katherine Thornell, one brother Gareth (Traci) Knights of Arlington, VT one sister Judith (Francis) Heisler of Ft. Myers, FL. James is also survived by four aunts: Constance Dufresne, Dorothy Joly, Shirley Flanagan and Barbara Knights, and his best friends, Cody and Casey, his dogs.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday evening, January 26, 2017 at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT at 6:45PM
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad at 110 McKinley Street, Bennington, VT 5201, and the SVHC Regional Caner Center, 140 Hospital Drive, Bennington, VT 05201.
