James Robert Flanagan, 62, of School Street in Bennington, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday May, 29, 2022 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
James was born on July 10, 1959 to John Basil Flanagan and Marie Monica (Voss-Flanagan) Murray in Queens, New York. He was a lover of classical music, cooking, camping, and genealogy. James was a regular "Mr. Fix-It" and particularly adept at fixing old timey TVs and radios. He was also notably the grandson of Anna (Tilly) Silver.
James is predeceased by his father, John Basil Flanagan, and mother, Marie Monica Murray. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Catherine Flanagan-Wright, and her husband, William Wright, of Groton, Connecticut, his brother, John Flanagan, and his wife, Marguerite "Peggy" Flanagan, and their children, Meghan and Andrew, of Rocky Point, New York, and his best friend, Brian Bigart, of Bennington, Vermont.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to BROC Community Action, a non-profit organization which provides Rutland and Bennington County families with a path forward out of crisis or poverty.
