James Francis "Jim" Cross

BENNINGTON- James "Jim" Francis Cross, 63, of Bennington, Vermont, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2022 at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness and brave battle with leukemia.

Born June 17th, 1958 in Bennington, he was the son of Ina (Buck) Cross and the late James Olin Cross of North Bennington, VT.

Jim Francis Cross graduated from Mount Anthony Union High School in 1976. He was a graduate of the University of Vermont, Albany College of Pharmacy, and Bennington College.

In addition to being a wonderful husband and loving dad, he was a science teacher, pharmacist, beekeeper, and dog lover. Jim was employed by Mount Anthony Union High School for 17 years, and was famous for his suspenders, bowties, love of Johnny Cash & Willy Nelson songs, Snack Fridays, his variety of class pets, his original iPhone 3 (aka fossil phone), and his encouraging "Rah Rah Go Get 'Em!" He was also known for his signature chili and "Fairy Princess" waffles with Spam.

Over the years Jim practiced as a pharmacist at CVS, Family Meds Pharmacy, SVMC pharmacy, and other pharmacies. He also enjoyed practicing and sharing his knowledge of beekeeping, working in his yard, riding his Harley, enjoying his birdfeeders, and spending time with friends and family. Jim also loved cruising all around town in his 2000 Jeep Wrangler with his loyal canine companions whom will miss him dearly.

Jim is survived by his wife, Colleen "Coffey" Cross whom he married on October 6, 1990; his daughters Katie and Becky Cross of Bennington, VT; his mother Ina Cross of North Bennington, VT; his siblings Kimberly (Earl) White of Forestburgh, NY, and Matthew (Jennifer) Cross of Delmar, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Jim will be held at a later date, the family will arrange for a service in the coming months.
