MANCHESTER- James Cheney Bushby 92, a resident of Bromley Manor in Manchester, Vermont, passed away peacefully on June 3rd, 2022
Born on April 9th, 1930 at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital In New York City, he was the son of the late Wilkie and Laura (Cheney) Bushby. He graduated from Allen-Stevenson school in New York and later received his high school diploma from Milton Academy in Massachusetts. He received his bachelor's degree from Yale University and later his master's degree from Harvard law school. James was a 1st lieutenant in the reserve marine corps. He practiced law as a corporate lawyer in New York, Connecticut. and Vermont. In the 70s and 80s he owned the Londonderry Inn, in South Londonderry, Vermont. He later retired to Norfolk, Connecticut.
James sailed a boat along the coast of Africa. Hiked the Haute Route through the Swiss alps, along with many other adventures.
He loved to paint, especially nature scenes while he was outdoors. He spent much time painting in Norfolk but also loved painting in rural France and The Hebrides in Scotland.
James enjoyed skiing, swimming and fishing. He was also a long standing member of AA.
Survivors include his daughter, son and six grandchildren.
