HOWARD E. "BUTCH" PALMER, SR. OBITUARY
POWNAL, VERMONT
Howard E. "Butch" Palmer, age 67, a resident of Pownal, Vermont, died on July 2, 2019 at home. He was born in Middlebury, Vermont on April 1, 1952, and was the son of the late Ernest and Iola (Euber) Palmer. He received his education in Vermont and joined the Army following school. He served during Viet Nam. Butch was an avid guitarist and was involved in several bands over the years, including his own with his brother, called "Smokin' Joe and the Bandits. He was a hunter and fisherman, and loved Yorkshire Terriers. Butch is a member of the American Legion Post in Brandon, Vermont.
Survivors include his children: Howard Palmer, Jr of Bangor, ME, Eric ( Lindsey) Palmer of Kenduskeg, ME, Tanya Rowe of Pownal, VT, Stephan Palmer (Jolene Goodell) of Bennington, VT, Steven Palmer of Middlebury, VT and Derrick Palmer of Rutland, VT. He leaves fourteen grandchildren, including Brandon Rowe of Bennington and Shelby George, whom he helped to raise. Butch has two great grandchildren; Emily Palmer, and Zahraa Rowe, both of Bennington, VT, and his care giver, Ronald (RJ) George as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Butch is predeceased by his parents, and two great grandchildren: Ronald George and Kerenza Rowe.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 2-4PM at the American Legion, Post #13 in Bennington. Memorial contributions to assist the family can be made to the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. , Bennington, VT 05201.
