Herb N. Eastman, 82, a resident of School St. in Bennington died Tuesday April 13, 2021 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
He was born in Bennington, Vermont, July 21, 1938. He was the son of the late Claude and Sarah (Howard) Eastman. He received his education in Bennington and was a 1957 graduate of Bennington High School.
Herb served in the Vermont Army National Guard for eight years.
He spent his last years with the late Betty Lou Harwood.
For 53 years, Herb worked in the grocery industry. He worked for eight years at A&P, eighteen years at the First National Super Market and twenty-seven years at Price Chopper. He retired from Price Chopper in November of 2006. He was a social member of the American Legion, VFW and Moose in Bennington. Herb enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include four daughters, Elaine DeForge of Pownal, Vermont, Kathy Sylvia of Mechanicsville, Virginia, Tammy LaCroix of Newport News, Virginia and Jennifer Eastman of North Bennington. A son, Billy Eastman of Shaftsbury, VT along with seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
At Herb's request there will be no calling hours or funeral services. A family graveside burial will be held at the family lot at White Chapel Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
