Henry DeWitt Wright Sr., 71, a resident of River Road in Buskirk, NY died Tuesday January 11, 2022 at the Albany Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born in Miami, Florida May 3, 1950. He was the son of the late Irving B. Wright and Carol D. (Jones) Wright. Henry grew up in Norfolk, Virginia.
He married the former Mary Ann Holts on September 25, 1982.
For almost 50 years Henry drove truck for Eastern Freight Ways, Inc. He traveled cross country and throughout the continental United States. His children frequently traveled with him. In earlier years Henry worked at Green Mountain Subaru as a salesman. He also worked at the Ford Motor Company, Browns Machine Shop and at an early age he traveled with Ringling Brothers Circus.
Henry loved kids. He coached Pee Wee Football and Little League Baseball. He coached the Alcaro Motors football team to an undefeated season and a super bowl championship. He loved riding his 2013 Harley Road King with his wife Mary Ann. Henry was an avid reader. He loved Tom Clancy Books. His mind was sharp as a tack. He also enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, playing chess and trains. He was a big Miami Dolphins fan.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Wright of Buskirk, NY. His five children, Angel Andrews, Henry D. Wright Jr., Vivian Wright and Michael Wright all of Buskirk and Antoinette Wright of Bennington. Seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A brother Irving B. Wright of San Antonio, Texas and two sisters, Jeannette P. Austin of Baltimore, Maryland and Carla Deane Holt of San Antonio, Texas. Along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
There will be no calling hours or funeral services.
