Henry E. Riker Iii

September 28, 1946 — July 20, 2021

Henry E. "Hank" Riker III, age 74, resident of Shaftsbury, beloved husband of 49 years of Nancy (Russo) passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday July 20, 2021.
Born in Bridgeport CT, he was the son of the late Henry "Bud" Riker and Alice (Blitzer) Riker. He was a graduate of RLHS in Fairfield CT, the town where he was raised. After H.S. Hank attended Norwalk Tech and graduated with a degree in electronics. After college, he enrolled in the United States Air Force. He was stationed mainly in Homestead Florida and completed 2 tours in South Korea. After marrying, he and Nancy resided in Milford CT for many years. He spent most of his career working as an electronics engineer/manufacturing supervisor for various companies throughout Connecticut including Fastron, Phillips Medical, Emerson Electronics, Branson Ultrasonics and Lacey Manufacturing. The family relocated to Vermont in 1999 where he was employed at UST in Bennington and ultimately H. Greenberg and Sons. He happily remained there, until his retirement in 2012.
He was a self-taught handyman who enjoyed working on his property, being outdoors, long drives in the country, hunting and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed volunteering as a member of the NorShaft Lions Club. In addition to his loving wife Nancy, he is survived by his son, Erick Riker and his wife Ellen, his daughter, Karen Riker, 3 grandchildren, Aiden, Colin and Emma Riker, a sister Louise Camblin and her husband Lanthan and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life for Hank on Saturday July 31 at the Mount Anthony Country Club located at 180 Country Club Dr in Bennington VT from 1-4.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either BAYADA Hospice, Bennington Project Independence or the Alzheimer's Foundation through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral home, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
