Henry John Glover, 71, beloved husband, father and grandfather, a resident of Shaftsbury, Vermont, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2022, following a courageous 23-year-long battle with cancer.
Henry was born on November 13, 1950, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, to Lucy Raimo and Henry Glover. He grew up in Iselin, New Jersey and graduated from St. Peter's High School in 1968. He received his bachelor's degree in sociology from Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois, in 1973.
On October 1, 1977, he married the former Mary Pat Bianco in New Brunswick, New Jersey. In 1981, they moved to Shaftsbury, Vermont, where they raised their two sons, Jesse and Alex.
Henry began his career as a social worker in New Jersey, before becoming a carpenter when he moved to Vermont. He was self-employed for many years doing carpentry work. One of his greatest accomplishments was building the house that his family lived in. Before retiring, he spent 15 years as a tax preparer for H&R Block.
Henry loved sports, and enjoyed both spectating and coaching. He was a fan of the Atlanta Braves, the Boston Red Sox and the Dallas Cowboys. When his sons were young, he coached for the Norshaft Little League and Norshaft Soccer. He adored his three grandchildren, and loved spending time with them.
Henry is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Pat Glover, and his two sons, Jesse Glover (Alexandra Jackson), of Shaftsbury, Vermont; and Alex Glover (Julie), also of Shaftsbury. He is also survived by his three grandchildren: Levi Michael, Sydney Kathleen, and Hayden Rose Glover. Henry has two surviving siblings: Virginia Favreau, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and John Glover, of Hamilton, New Jersey.
He was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Edward Glover, all of Iselin, New Jersey.
A private, family memorial service is planned.
