Helene Mae (Carmichael) Del Tufo was born in Margaret Hague Hospital in Jersey City, NJ on October 31st 1932. Attending Dickinson High School, she then went to Rutgers University where she graduated with a degree in Chemistry and worked as a lab technician. She was very proud of her work and was able to remember strange and complex scientific facts throughout her life. Helene met Stanley at college, marrying after graduation in 1955. They lived a very happy and productive life, raising two daughters, Alisa and Catherine, in Paramus NJ, where they lived for 40 years. They were open, generous, caring people who tried to make the world a better place through their church and other programs that helped people in the community. They enjoyed travel, skiing, tennis, and monthly family gatherings. In 2007 they moved to North Bennington, VT to be close to their daughter Alisa. A warm and genuine person, she made many new friends in Vermont through quilting, volunteering at the McCullough Library and tirelessly supporting Paran Recreations. Helene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She passed away on March 23, 2023 and is survived by her two daughters, their spouses and three grandchildren. She loved her family and did everything possible to enjoy, support, and encourage them. To say that she will be missed does not begin to describe the sadness that we feel at losing her. Family and friends will always hold her close in their thoughts, hopes, hearts and memories. There will be a celebration of her life in the near future. If so moved, please send contributions in her honor to either; Paran Recreations, Doctors Without Borders or NRDC through the office of the Mahar Funeral Home 628 Main Street Bennington, VT 05201.
