Helen A. Tifft, 74, a resident of Old West Road in Arlington, VT died unexpectedly on Sunday September 23, 2018 in Manchester, VT.
She was born in Rochester, VT May 25, 1944. She was the daughter of the late William and Arlene (Gibbs) Stone. Helen received her education in Rochester, VT, Grantham, New Hampshire and Lebanon, NH.
She married Robert P. Tifft on August 4, 1962 in Sunderland, VT. They were married by Harry Stone, Justice of the Peace.
In earlier years Helen had been employed at the Green Mountain Diner, Bennington Brush, the Sunderland Motel and the Vermont Country Store from which she retired.
Helen's family was her main interest. She also enjoyed genealogy, country music, Blue Grass and Polka.
Survivors include her husband, Robert P. Tifft of Arlington; three sons, Malcolm Tifft of Arlington, Marcus Tifft (Cindy) of North Bennington and Travis Tifft of Arlington, VT. Two grandchildren, Lance and Brittany Tifft. A great grandson Lance Jr and several brothers and sisters. She was pre-deceased by a son, Trevor Tifft, a granddaughter, Kitley Tifft, a brother Clifton Stone and a step brother Dick Smith.
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Saturday October 6, 2018 from 11:00 am until 1:00 p.m.
A memorial service will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service at the VFW in Bennington.
The burial will be private in the family lot at the Ira Allen Cemetery in Sunderland, VT.
