Helen Marie Breese, 71, a resident of Middle Pownal Road, died Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Glens Falls, NY Hospital following a brief illness unrelated to COVID-19.
Born in Bennington on May 8, 1949, she was the daughter of Frank E. Hurley and the late Dorothy (Cherbonneau) Hurley.
Helen received her education in the Bennington schools and was a 1967 graduate of Bennington High School.
Helen married Harry M. Breese on February 14, 1970 at the North Bennington Baptist Church. Harry died February 20, 2008.
Helen was employed for over 30 years by the Early Education Department for the Southwestern Vermont Supervisory Union, working at Molly Stark School in Bennington until the time of her retirement.
Helen's passion was enjoying time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, and going to the family camp at Lake George.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Skip Wilkins of Shaftsbury and two sons, Timothy Breese of Pownal and Kevin Breese of Shaftsbury; six grandchildren, Melony, Madison and Haley Breese, Ellie and Sam Wilkins and Henry Doughney; her father, Frank E. Hurley of Bennington; two sisters, Elaine Holts of Sumter, SC and Barbara Fritz (Eric) of Pennsylvania; three brothers, John Hurley (Carole), Steve Hurley (Michele) and James Hurley, all of Bennington and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband Helen was predeceased by a brother, Frank "Skippy" Hurley, a nephew, Matthew Ellis, and a brother-in-law, Joseph Holts.
Due to current restrictions with Coronavirus, a celebration of Helen's life will be held at a future time to be announced.
Burial will take place in the family lot at Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, NY at the convenience of the family.
