BENNINGTON
Harry J. Rohrs, 84, a resident of Spring Hill Road, Bennington, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 29, 2016 surrounded by his family.
Born in Richmond Hill, Queens, NY on May 2, 1932 he was the son of the late Harry A., and Evelyn (Haas) Rohrs. Harry received his education in the Queens schools.
A U. S. Army Korean War veteran, Harry served from November 17, 1952 thru September 10, 1954.
Harry married the former Margaret Wade on September 18, 1954 in Queens, NY.
Harry was employed by the F. W. Woolworth Company for 43 years. He moved to Bennington in 1984 when he was named manager of the Bennington store.
Harry was a member of American Legion Post 13 in Bennington. A devout New York Yankee fan, he also enjoyed bowling and playing golf.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Rohrs of Bennington; two daughters, Audrey Doucette of New Milford, CT and Ellen Conklin of Bennington; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Annette Farnan of Valley Stream, L.I., NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Harry was predeceased by a daughter, Jacqueline Baranowski. and a great-grandson, Cole Gordon.
Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. At 3:00 p.m. there will be a time of remembrance to celebrate Harry's life.
Burial will take place in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery where military honors will be offered.
