Hans Heck, 35, of Bennington, VT died unexpectedly January 8th, 2021. He was born in Lima, Peru on June 6, 1985, to Maria Luisa Montiel and Luis Felipe Heck. He attended Mount Anthony Union High School, graduating in 2003.
Hans loved 3 things in life; his country, his family, and his friends. He enlisted in the Army National Guard in May of 2008, and joined Bravo Troop of Bennington, VT. He was an 11C mortarman, and proudly served his country in Operation Enduring Freedom, completing two tours of duty; first in Afghanistan in 2010 with Bravo Troop, then in Africa in 2017 with Company Alpha 124th infantry out of Florida.
Hans' friends and family were one in the same. His love and loyalty ran deep for both. He was well known for his infectious smile, and charming personality. Whether he was at MOK, or Ramuntos, he was always in the center of robust conversations, lots of laughter, and many friends. Han's greatest love was his daughter, Kali. From the moment she was born, she became his entire world. He was a proud, committed, and loving father, and their bond was truly something special.
Hans is survived by his daughter, Kali, of Pownal VT, his siblings, Karen Heck, Graziella (Brian) Scales, and Jeffrey Poore, of Florida, and Kazandra Griffin of Rutland, VT. His aunts, Malena Montiel, and Pocha Heck. Uncle Hugo Montiel; cousins Luciana Guillen, Vanessa Stark, Franco Montiel, Sebastian Stark, Carlos Heck, Alberto Heck, Medalith Montiel, and Giacomo Montiel. Nephew Liam Wendorff, and niece Brianna Roman, along with his grandfather, Hugo Montiel. He was predeceased by his parents. He also leaves a large family of friends behind. He will be deeply missed.
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, Vermont on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 2:00PM until 4:00PM. At 4:15PM Military Honors will take place.
