Gregory Phillip Hoard, 60, a resident of Bennington, Vermont, passed away unexpectedly following a brief illness at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, New York, on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023. Born on June 18th, 1963, in Bennington, Vermont. He was the son of Janice (Knapp) Whitten and Claude Hoard. Greg was raised in Shaftsbury, Vermont and White Creek, New York. He later attended Hoosick Falls Central School in Hoosick Falls, New York. Following high school, Greg moved to Virginia, where he began a career as a custodian. He later returned to the Bennington area and continued as a custodian in the nearby Williamstown Elementary and Greylock High School in Williamstown, Massachusetts. On October 13th, 2019, he had his first date with Selina Toro. Three years later on October 12th, 2022, they shared a commitment ceremony at Green Mountain Christian Center in Bennington. Greg enjoyed bass fishing, BMX bikes, and archery. He was an accomplished RC car builder and racer. Greg enjoyed visiting his favorite restaurant, Mi Rancho in Glens Falls, New York. He especially enjoyed spending time with Selina and his loyal Dog, Odie. Odie even saved Greg’s life following a heart attack a few years ago; Odie remained by his side barking until Greg awoke and was able to call emergency services. Survivors include his partner, Selina Toro. His children; Nikki Herschler (Josh), Kasey Elmore (Josh), Alida Siebken (Adam), and Travis Hoard. His grandchildren: Hannah, Norah, Eden, Josephine, Selah, Claire, Dorothy, Henry, and Oskar. His father, Claude Hoard. His mother, Janice Whitten. His brother; John Hoard (Paula). His nieces, Savannah and Machalia. As well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service for Greg will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 16th, 2023, at Green Mountain Christian Center in Bennington.
